Milan has 3 airports.
Most international flights land in Malpensa and Orio al Serio (Caravaggio), most domestic in Linate (City Airport).
They are all very well connected to the city, so commuting won’t be a problem at all.
MALPENSA (official website here)
- BUS : Malpensa Airport is 50km north of Milan. It can be reached easily by bus (different companies are leaving from just outside the hall, more or less same price, always same route). If you buy a return ticket, you must board a bus of the same company when riding back. No need to book in advance, plenty of seats and buses available.

- TRAIN: there is a train service connecting both Malpensa Terminals (T1 and T2) to Milan, but double check in which station the train is bound! It can be Central Station or Cadorna Station as final destinations. It may be handy for you to get off in one of the other suburban stations if closer to your flat (Milano Porta Garibaldi or Milano Bovisa). Again, basically no need to buy a ticket in advance, but if you want to:
- TAXI : expensive option. The airport is quite far away from the city but remember the fare is FLAT, regardless where you ask to be dropped off inside the city of Milan, number of passangers or luggages (link to the official page of the municipality here). It’s always 95 euros, day and night. Always board a white TAXI, ask to activate the meter and don’t pay a penny more. ORIO AL SERIO – CARAVAGGIO AIRPORT- BERGAMO (official website here)
Orio airport is located in Bergamo, 45 km North of the city of Milan. If you are using a low cost air company, you most likely gonna land here. Again, really easy to commute to the city.
- BUS – Different companies riding from just outside the airport to Central Station in Milan. Remember if you buy a return ticket, you must ride with the same company going back.
- TAXI : expensive option. LINATE AIRPORT (official website here)
Linate Airport is just a few km from the city. Again, plenty of options to reach city center.
- PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION– here you have 2 different options.
- Air Pullman connecting Linate Airport to Central Station (25 mins ride, 5 euros, timetable here) just outside the airport. This service is NOT part of the ATM regular urban service.
- Underground, Line M4 “Linate” stop, regular urban service, connecting Linate Airport every few minutes. More info on public transportation and available tickets here.
